Robert E. Lee, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 14, 2016 at the age of 90. The son of Wilbur and Florence Lee, as well as Ruthe Lee, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Judith; sons Robert, John (James Byers) and Steven; grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Megan and Kathryn; two brothers Burdette and Thomas; and his dog, Miss Molly Lee

Robert joined the Navy at the age of 17. Upon returning at the close of World War II, he graduated from SUNY Cortland and Niagara University and went on to own and operate the Robert E. Lee Insuring Agency for more than 50 years.

A long time resident of Lewiston, Robert was a member, Elder and Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church; a town councilman; a charter member of the Lewiston Kiwanis Club; and participated in boards including the Lewiston Free Library and the SPCA.

Many will remember Robert for his love of sports including racket ball, tennis, golf, skiing and the smoking of cigars. He was also known for his carpentry skills. However, family and friends will not soon forget the warm and welcoming smile Robert shared whenever you met.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, NY 14092. A service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held Saturday, May 21, at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N.
