Richard Papiernik, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away under the loving care of Niagara Hospice on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 18, 1930 he was the son of the late Anthony and Alice (Baron) Papiernik.
Richard entered the United States Army on August 18, 1952, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 11, 1954 as a Corporal. For serving his country he received the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal.
After serving his country, Richard was a pipefitter at Occidental Chemical Corporation, retiring after 30 years at the age of 55. He was an active member of the Moose lodge for many years. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, card playing with buddies and visiting the casino.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan (Weaver) Papiernik; children, Lenora (Henry) Andrews, Richard (Marilyn) Papiernik, Paul (Sheryl) Papiernik and JoAnn (Michael) Aceti; grandchildren, Melissa (Derrick) Winkworth, Michele (Douglas) Price, Melanie (Frank) McCune, Justine (John) Stevens and David (Ashley Frederick) Wakeman; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Papiernik; and niece, Julie (Michael) Alterio.
There is NO PRIOR visitation. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
