Phyllis M. (Cosgrove) Gorzka, of Niagara Falls, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 in Clearwater, Florida, where she and her beloved husband have wintered for the past five years. She was born in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada on April 6, 1948, the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Mollie (Lahey) Cosgrove. Living most of her youth years in Niagara on the Lake, she moved to Niagara Falls, New York in 1968, after her marriage to Matthew.
Phyllis, worked as an accounting supervisor for the Hatch Corporation in Amherst, NY. She was a member of St. John de LaSalle RC Church and its Rosary Alter Society. She also worked bingo for many years for the church. A member of the Beta Sigma Phi Alpha Chapter in her spare time she enjoyed traveling and playing golf.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Gorzka; children, Shawn Shumway (John), Kim Torcasio (Jeff), Gidget Cannon (Paul) and Raelene Robinson (Mike); a brother, Thomas Cosgrave (Donna); brother-in-law, Stuart Comerford (Debbie); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Douglas Gorzka and her sister, Evelyn Ferguson.
Family present on Monday from 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Town of Lewiston.
