Patricia Ann Sembert(Rogers) 80, left this earth peacefully on May 17, 2016.She was born in Niagara Falls New York, the youngest daughter of the seven children of Johanna (Geraghty)and John Rogers. As a young woman, Pat worked as a switchboard operator for the NY telephone company. It was a place where her patience and wonderful personality served her well. She gained a skill that would allow her to be successful in obtaining various part time employment throughout her life. She was always a dependable and reliable employee.
She lived most of her life in Niagara Falls except for a brief adventure for a couple of years in Key West Florida, where she moved to be closer to her daughter. She was employed there as a tour guide for the famed Audubon House and a receptionist at a dentist's office. She would proudly ride her bike to these jobs and was quickly consumed by the colorful local culture of the town.
Pat, Patty, Grandma Pat was known for her quick wit and ability to bring humor to any situation. She could always make you feel good about yourself no matter what. She loved her Dewar's scotch, scratch offs and a good time. Her kitchen table was renown as a gathering place for family and friends where many laughs were shared to the point of tears. She loved playing the slots at the casino. We would call her "our lucky charm". She would win often and always insist on sharing her winnings a testament to her infinite generosity. She loved animals and would always have a dog and /or cat by her side as well as constantly watching Animal Planet where she gathered random facts to surprise any audience she had. She loved country music and would always be singing when cleaning or cooking. She had an extreme interest in dreams, psychic abilities and the afterlife., reading countless books on the subjects.
She will be greatly missed by those of us on this side but will be greatly welcomed on the other side. We send her off with all of our love and gratefulness for every moment she gave us. The family would like to thank Hospice of Niagara County and Northgate for providing loving care for our mother these last few weeks.
She is survived by her six children, Catherine, Eugene (Eleanor), Daniel, Deborah, Samuel (Pearl Hoover) and Edward (Kathy Clive).
