O'neal Hunt, known to many as "Fat Sam," was born Septmember 15, 1940 in Gantt, AL to the late O'neal Hunt, Sr. and Beatrice Curry-Hunt. Fat Sam was called home on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at the age of 78, of natural causes.
Fat Sam was no stranger to hard work. He was first employed by the rail road and over time transitioned into working for the city, until his disabling accident on July 8, 1982.
Fat Sam enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and reminiscing with old friends. He was preceded by step-mother, Idabell Hunt and sisters, Ella Mae Mais and Mary Nell Downing.
In his passing, he is survived by wife, Henrietta Cole-Hunt; children, Michael Cole, Kevin Cole and Terrence Cole; also survived by siblings, Judy Nalls, Ray Bell Gully, Phillis Hale, Geraldine Ellis, Aubrey Hunt, Willie Hunt and Dewayne Hunt, in addition to 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. HE WAS LOVED BY MANY AND WILL BE MISSED BY ALL!
Visitation Monday 11AM in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 1740 Tennessee Ave.; funeral to follow at Noon. Arrangements by WILIAMSON FUNERAL HOME, 635 Main Street.
