Maura's Story

Maura (Pitarresi) Cuddahee passed away peacefully on February 4, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and friends following a long illness. Born on December 21, 1951, Maura was the fourth of ten children of Murphy and Marjorie (Fratello) Pitarresi.
Maura possessed many talents. She was a gifted artist, an avid gardener and an accomplished cook, famous in her family for her culinary offerings, especially her homemade pizza. An intelligent, quick-witted, warm hearted woman, Maura enjoyed bringing smiles to people's faces. She had a nurturing, positive manner that made her family and friends seek her out for advice and guidance. Maura held several jobs over her lifetime, most memorably working as the 'Cheese Lady' at Tops International where people were drawn to her bright, engaging personality. Maura's primary focus in life, her greatest joy, was her family. She dedicated herself fully to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, Gabriel, Joshua, Nathaniel and Jesse; grandchildren, Ryan Cali, Rafael and Anna Cuddahee; and a great-grandson, Logan Cali; her former husband, William Cuddahee; siblings, John Pitarresi, Julie (James) Lanahan, Jerome (Marie) Pitarresi; Mary Jo (Randy) Hake, Michael (Gineena Husted) Pitarresi; Charles Pitarresi; Jennifer Pitarresi and Janine (Frank) Congi; a special aunt and uncle, Charlotte and Kenneth Tompkins; life-long friend, Patti Szabo Tweed; numerous cousins and many nieces and nephews. Maura was predeceased by her beloved parents and brother, Anthony Pitarresi.
The family will be present Thursday from 3-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10 AM, in St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Prince of Peace site, 1055 Military Road, Niagara Falls. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maura's memory to the Kidney Foundation 110 Broadway, Buffalo, NY 14203 or a favorite charity of your choice.
