Mathew David Slish, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at home, under the care of Niagara Hospice and his loving family. Matt was born in Lewiston, NY, on May 23, 1973, the son of Deacon David P. and Patricia (Dowling) Slish.
He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former LaSalle Senior High School. He worked as an EMT and as a truck driver. He attended welding school, most recently working for GP 50 as a Welder of Grand Island. Matt loved the outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing. He was a longtime member of St. John de LaSalle R.C. Church, Divine Mercy and Niagara University.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved wife, Tina Hengst Slish, married June 26, 1993; children, Mark, Amanda, Christopher and Matthew Slish; brother, Aaron Slish (Kim) of Niagara Falls; his mother-in-law, Florence Hengst (Late Earl); several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will be present on Wednesday, November 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where prayers will be said on Thursday 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John de LaSalle RC Church with His Most Reverand Excellency Edward M. Grosz, DDVG Officiating. The interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials, may be made to Roswell Park.
