Mary (Panza) Calandra, 94, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on January 30, 2018 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Rose (Volpe) Panza.
Mary spent her entire life in Niagara Falls graduating from Trott Vocational High School and working at the former Carborundum Company and the Niagara Falls Public Library. Mary was affectionately known to her loved ones as 'Mom,' 'Nonnie' and 'Grandma' Mary. She enjoyed baking, cooking and crossword puzzles. She also visited Facebook on her iPad daily to catch up on the latest news regarding family and friends. Mary was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society and the Madonna Del Soccorso Society of St. Joseph's Church, where she was a lifelong member.
Mary was the beloved wife of 45 years to the late Frank Calandra whom she married on April 30, 1949 in St. Joseph's Church. Mr. Calandra predeceased her on September 1, 1994. Devoted mother to daughter, Patricia Navarroli and devoted son-in-law, Anthony Navarroli; cherished grandsons, Anthony (Kimberly) Navarroli, Jr. and Michael Navarroli (Tiffaney Gadacz) and seven adored great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alexandra, Anthony III, Isabella, Christiana and twins, Vivienne and Emilia Navarroli. She was the sister of the late Frank (Domenica) Panza. Mary was predeceased by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anthony (Angie) Calandra, George (Josephine) Calandra, Salvatore (Mary) Calandra, Jasper (Mary) Calandra, Frances (Louis Zagotti) Cosentino, Beatrice (Joseph) Serianni, Anna (Alfonso) Tuzzolino and Rose Bonano, all from Rome, NY and Sicily, Italy; as well as being survived by several dear to her heart nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was also predeceased by lifelong friend and neighbor, Mary Colao.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301 on Saturday, February 3rd at 10 AM. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's name to the Ronald McDonald House of Western NY, 780 West Ferry Street, Buffalo, NY 14222.
