Ellen V. Retton a long time resident of Niagara Falls entered into Heaven on August 16, 2017, while under the loving care of Niagara Hospice. Ellen was born on February 7, 1927 in Watson, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Edmond and Rose (Ferrise) Girod.

Ellen was employed for most of her working career in the retail industry. For many years she managed the offices of the former MAXIMs and KINGS department stores (what is now the sight of the Fashion Outlets). Later on she managed the former KIDSPORT, USA at the Outlet Mall. She retired in 1991.

Ellen was extremely artistic, at drawing and painting pictures, which are displayed throughout her home. She loved crafting and decorating and took pride in her home. She loved to spend time outside, tending to her numerous flower gardens. She was an avid NY Yankees fan.

Most of all Ellen loved her family and spending time with them. She was a simple person, who never wanted or asked for much from anyone. She loved to give of herself to anyone in need.

Her family will always treasure all the moments they shared especially Christmas Eves which were always celebrated at her home. Her grandchildren will remember the sleep overs and helping Nana make the stuffing for Thanksgiving dinners.

Ellen will forever be loved, missed and remembered by her entire family.

Ellen is survived by her loving daughter, Karen McAlee (late Barry); grandchildren, Lisa (Phil) Capell; Stephanie (James) Leathers; Kari (Jeff) McAlee-Miller; Renee Retton; Robert (Teresa) Retton. Great Grandchildren, Justin, Isabella, Ryan, Abigail, Ava and Shayla.

Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph P. Retton, Sr. and her son Joseph P. Retton, Jr (wife Elizabeth). She is also predeceased by her brother John Girod, and sisters Joann Macaluso and Mary Paknik. Also predeceased by granddaughter Julie Retton.

According to Ellens wishes there will be no prior visitation. A graveside service will be held at FOREST LAWN CEMETERY, ROSEWOOD MAUSOLEUM, in Buffalo on Monday August 21, 2017 at 11 A.M.
