Mary Koplun, 99, of Somerset, KY (formerly of Niagara Falls, NY) passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at The Neighborhood Nursing Facility, Somerset KY. Born in Nanticoke, PA on August 19, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Metro and Pearl (Koty) Prozeralik.
Mary was a devoted member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. She worked in the restaurant business alongside her family at John's Flaming Hearth Restaurant for 50 + years until it's closing.
She is survived by her son, David J. Koplun; grandchildren, Janelle (William) Kash and Garrett Koplun; sister, Eva (late Nicholas) Shalayda and brother, Fred (late Elizabeth) Prozeralik. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Peter Koplun; brothers, Nicholas (Lucille) Prozeralik, Michael (Stella) Prozeralik and John Prozeralik; sisters, Ann (James) Driscoll, Helen (George) Murray, Betty (Walter) Kusk and Pauline (Peter) Slota.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 13th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY., where a Panachyda service will be held at 7 PM. A 2nd Panachyda service will being at 9:15 AM on Thursday December 14th, at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2715 Ferry Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY., with Father Raymond Palko officiating. Burial following in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
