Marvin "Mickey" McDonald Hayes

Marvin Mickey McDonald Hayes Marvin "Mickey" McDonald Hayes, age 68, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA. He was born on April 16, 1950, to the late Paul Eugene and Elizabeth Marie (McDonald) Hayes in Niagara Falls, NY.
He graduated from the LaSalle High School. In 1975, Marvin began working as a bartender for his sister and brother-in-law who owned a restaurant called the Elk Restaurant located in Port Jefferson, NY. Then, in the mid-eighties, he began working for his sister, Elly, as a bartender at the Miller Place Inn which was located in Long Island, NY. Marvin was well-known and well-liked on Long Island.
In 2004, Marvin retired and made his way to Brookville to live with his sister, Marguerite. He has lived in the area ever since. He loved photography and taking pictures of everything. He enjoyed working on engines and was proud of the cars he owned. Marvin thoroughly enjoyed people and was a great and big-hearted man. He also tinkered with stereos and other electronics. He loved to go to Burger King and get his favorite burger, the Whopper. He enjoyed seeing the saltwater marine life. He was a very funny man who had a great sense of humor.
Marvin is survived by two sister, Marguerite "Ann" Rockey of Brookville, PA, and Ellen Joyce Grodsky of Long Island, NY; one brother, Stanley E. (Penelope) Hayes of Lockport, NY; one sister-in-law, Janet Hayes; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his parrot, Apples. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Paul Fleming Hayes.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 29, 2018, from 2 PM - 4 PM at the G.B Carrier House Inn, 365 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. This is located next door to the McKinney-d'Argy Funeral Home on Main Street in Brookville. A funeral service will immediately follow the viewing, beginning at 4:00 PM and officiated by Reverend Glenn McQuown. Interment will take place at the Brookville Cemetery.
