Mark C. Vitello

Mark C. Vitello, 50 of San Mateo, CA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in Las Vegas, NV, where he was attending a Def Leppard concert, one of his favorite bands. Mark was born on March 18, 1969 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the former Jennifer Vitello.
He is predeceased by his cherished grandparents, the late Frank and Lucy (nee Calato) Vitello, who helped raise Mark along with his mother for the first seven years of his life. Mark and his mother moved to Amherst, NY, in 1975, where he attended Sweet Home Schools and was a 1992 graduate of the University of Buffalo. Mark moved to California in 1994 to pursue his dream of working in the video gaming industry. Shortly after moving to California, Mark began his 24-year career at SONY Interactive Entertainment, first as a game tester and later moved into Account Management, eventually becoming Global Account Executive.
In 2010, Mark became a father to his son, Lukas. When he and Lukas made their bi-annual trips to visit Noni and Papa in Amherst, Duff's, Ted's, DiCamillo bread and glazed donuts and pizza were always on the menu. Spending his free time with Lukas was at the top of the list - Disneyland, Yosemite, Comi-Con, Japan, Hawaii are just a few memories Lukas will always have with his father.
Mark was an avid Star Wars aficionado, Marvel/DC Superhero Comic book collector and heavy metal music fan, all things he shared with his son, Lukas. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you listened. He was considered an icon in the video gaming industry as referenced by the many tributes made by his co-workers, companies and individuals he worked with during his career with SONY. Many of the Playstation video games have his fingerprint on them. He was also a Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and New York Yankees fan.
In addition to his loving mother, Jennifer; and son, Lukas, Mark is survived by his step-father, Charles "Chuck" Booker; his uncles, Philip (Maureen) and Richard (Patricia) Vitello; his former wife, Lianna Vitello; and many loving cousins.
The family will be present on Friday from 4-8 PM at the (Otto Redanz Chapel) Spallino-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. A Graveside Committal Service will take place on Saturday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls at 11 AM. Friends invited.

Jennifer and family,
Deepest sympathies on the passing of Mark. I will always cherish my time spent with Mark growing up especially attending the Boys Club camp in Newfane.
