Luigia Caira Luigia (Delicata) Caira, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on January 18, 2018 at Northgate Health Care Facility. Born on December 14, 1924 in Atina, Province of Frosinone, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Cesidio Delicata and Maria Dominica Tempesta.
Luigia immigrated to the United States in 1955 with her family through Ellis Island and settled in Niagara Falls, NY. She was employed at the Ramada Inn in Niagara Falls as a housekeeper for many years. Luigia loved tending to her flower and vegetable garden. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking. Above all, Luigia adored her grandchildren, and hosting Sunday dinners and family gatherings at her home. Her door was always open, and room at her table for family to visit and eat.
Luigia was predeceased by her husband, Gerardo Caira on September 24, 1981. She is survived by her children, Marisa (Frederick) Abramaitys, Clara (Roy) Hinton and Anna (Stafford) White; seven grandchildren, Sherian (David) Yi, Frederick (Adrienne) Abramaitys, Timothy (Amy) Abramaitys, Jason (Marlene) Hinton, Jennifer Hinton, Christopher (Jennifer) White and Kimberly White; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Maria Teresa Tempesta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Mario Delicata, Valentino Delicata, Angela Delicata and Lidia Tempesta.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd from 10 - 11:15 AM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin at 11:15 AM, followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
