Linda L. Whitesell, 74, of Algonquin, passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2017. She was born on August 14, 1943 in Lewiston, NY to Charles and Dorothy (nee Hearn) Moyer.
Linda was employed by United Airlines, where she was a flight attendant from 1964 until her retirement in 2014. She was a promotional model as well as a liaison for trade show models. Linda was a member of Willow Creek Community Church, an avid gardener, but her greatest passions were shopping and interior design.
Linda was a very giving and caring person, often times putting everyone's needs ahead of hers, even during her five year battle with cancer. Linda bravely and valiantly fought cancer, outliving every prognosis the doctors gave, even being called a "Medical Miracle" and earned the title of "Warrior" among her friends.
Her greatest joy was being a mom. She was very involved with her all of her children's many activities, whether it was figure skating, hockey, equestrian or motorcross. Linda loved her family, spending time with them and coordinating family reunions.
Linda will be deeply missed by her loving children, Tracy (James) Whitesell-Atlas, Chuck Whitesell; grandchildren, Leyden and Cuyler Atlas; siblings, Suzanne (Lynn) Stein; nieces, Emily, Karyn and Sarah Stein and Dawn (Rick) Frosolone; and by her college friend and caretaker, Amy Gallo. Many loving friends and relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Charles Moyer.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, stjude.org or to Reach Animal Rescue, ATTN: Patti Bianco, 372 Townline Rd., Mundelein, IL 60060, reachrescue.org.
