Events

Kathleen Ellen (Shehan) Fleming, a 50-year resident of Pershing Avenue, Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the home of her son, Mark, while receiving care from Niagara Hospice. She was born in London, England on July 26, 1923, and was the daughter of John and Ellen (Kelly) Shehan.
She attended schools in England and worked as a nurse during World War II, moved to Canada, and eventually settled in Niagara Falls. Kathleen was very proud of her English Heritage, living her life in that fashion. There was always a pot of tea, cookies and chocolates in her home. She took pride in her gardens, and enjoyed knitting, baking and reading. Above all, she was always a very loving and supportive mother and nana to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who never missed a game or event. She will be missed beyond words.
Kathleen worked for over 45 years as a medical transcriptionist at Mount St. Mary's Hospital and worked for the former Niagara Catholic High School.
She is survived by her children, Maura Bruno (Tim Sullivan) of Grand Island, Mark Fleming of the Town of Wheatfield, Melinda (Tom) Lamb of Haddonfield, NJ, Michael (Barbara) Fleming of Niagara Falls, and MaryEllen Fleming McKean of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Joseph and Jessica Bruno, Andrew (Elizabeth) Lamb, Rachel Lamb (Andy Malik) and Amelia Lamb, Ryan (Jack Shea) Fleming, Olivia and Taylor Fleming (Pat Conte), and Alanna and Jacob McKean; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Asher, Hannah and Tristan Lamb. She was predeceased by her daughter, Maureen; her son, Matthew and her brother, Leslie Shehan.
The family will be present on Sunday from 12 Noon until 4 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. The interment will be held privately for the family.

We were so sorry to hear of Kathleen's passing. Lucky to have met her those few times at Yubb's in all her English-glory and fawning over Evan. Sending our love and support at this difficult time to Mark and the Fleming family.

To the Fleming clan, may you each be comforted by one another in your loss. Your mother was a sweet as could be to the neighbor kids - good memories. God bless each of you and your families.

I worked with Kathleen at MSMH for several years and those days that we worked together were some of the most pleasant times. She was always smiling and such a gracious lady. RIP Kathleen.

My name is Robert Luskin. My Mother and Kathleen were friends many years ago through the Overseas Wives Club. I often wondered what had become of the Fleming family. I can remember the Club family picnics at your house. I also saddened to hear of Matt's passing as he was the closest to me in age. My sincere condolences.
