Kathleen Delaney Cannon

July 10, 1923 - September 21, 2018

Kathleen Delaney Cannon, 95, lifelong resident of Lewiston, and formerly Niagara Falls, died on Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home in Lutherville, Maryland, with family members by her side. Born in Adams, Massachusetts, to Elizabeth Hughes Delaney and her husband, Joseph Vincent Delaney, the family of seven moved to Niagara Falls when she was a small child.
Kathleen attended Sacred Heart School and graduated Niagara Falls High School. She followed her beloved sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Delaney Phillips, to New York City, where she worked at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital, and later Eastern Airlines. In 1947, she moved back to Niagara Falls to marry and then to raise a family with her lifelong love, noted architect, Will Alban Cannon, Jr. She acted in children's theater for many years, and volunteered for Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and served on the Board of the Old Fort Niagara Association.
Funny, outspoken, charismatic and beautiful "Kay" loved her children and their spouses, Barbara Cannon (Robert) Jones of Summit, New Jersey, and Will Alban (Elizabeth) Cannon III of Towson, Maryland; and her grandchildren, Kathleen Jones (Patrick) Sheehan, Elizabeth Cannon Jones, Robert Carlisle Jones, Julia Delaney Cannon, Will Alban Cannon IV, and Grace Barbara Cannon, beyond measure, and received their love in return. She was blessed with a great-grandchild, Delaney Marie Sheehan, in 2016.
Competitive and athletic, she excelled at most sports, but her passion was golf, and within one 18-month period, she scored three holes-in-one at Mariner Sands, Stuart, Florida, where she and her husband, Will, maintained a second home for the past 30 years. She delighted in winning the Presidents Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club in her mid-eighties. In recent years, she grew tired of watching the Buffalo Bills lose game after game, and we give her credit for the big win last weekend.
Kay was known for her style, her attention to detail, her positive spirit, and her devotion to her family and to God. Words can not express how much her family will miss her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Niagara University Chapel on Saturday, September 29 at 10 AM. Burial will be private.

Dear Cannon family,
I am sorry for your loss. I send my warm condolences to the family. Kathleen will be missed. She certainly was an amazing and loving person among her family and friends. God will not forget the love, hard work, compassion, and faith she had in him. God will bring back our loved ones we've lost including Kathleen as promised in the bible at John 5:28,29

When someone was a part of your childhood you don't forget. Every morning for years I was at Mrs. Cannon's doorstep. Had sleep overs, neighborhood birthday parties, ski club and so forth. The memories are there and Mrs. Cannon always wore a smile that made you feel good and always held high expectations for all of us. I know how much you will be missed by your family. Rest in peace.
