Joseph's Story

Joseph N. Cacchio, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2017. He was 96. He was born in Reynoldsville, PA on March 19, 1921, a son of Leonardo and Michelina (Lastarto) Cacchio.
He attended schools in Pennsylvania and then entered the United States Army in 1943. He served as a Cannoneer in Battery D, Second Coast Artillery until his honorable discharge in 1944. He then moved to Niagara Falls and worked as a baker at Nabisco for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Niagara LaSalle Masonic Lodge #132 and Bacon Memorial Church.
Mr. Cacchio is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Juanita (Glass) Cacchio; his daughter, Linda (Cacchio) Eggleston of Niagara Falls; his stepson, Don (Patricia) Neal of The Woodlands, TX; three grandchildren, Jessica Neal of Conroe, TX, Alexis (Ryan) Neal Ray of Grand Prairie, TX, and Mckenze Neal of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Cavill of Harpers Ferry, WV; and his sister, Mary Cacchio of Meadville, PA. Joseph was predeceased by his step-daughter, Linda Barker; step-grandson, Don Neal III; and six siblings, Carrie Parulo, Ann Cacchio, Jennie Toth, and Ben, Donald and Nicholas Cacchio.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 4-7 PM, where members of Niagara LaSalle Lodge 132 F&AM; will conduct Masonic services 6:45 PM, followed by funeral services at 7 PM with Pastor Lee Holliday from Bacon Memorial Church officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be on Saturday at 11 AM in Acacia Park Cemetery in Pendleton.
