John T. 'Jack''s Story
John T. 'Jack' Walmsley of Lewiston, NY, passed peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2017. Beloved father of Margi Strombeck (late John) and the late MSG Thomas (Theresa). Devoted grandfather of Erica Strombeck and Angelique Foote. Also survived by a countless number of friends; and his beloved poodle, DJ.
Jack was born June 19, 1926 in Wilson Dam, AL to Alec W. Walmsley and Maude Rickard. Jack was a Navy veteran, proudly serving his country during World War II. He was also proud to be a 'Hokie', obtaining degrees in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Jack spent much of his life working for Hooker Chemical and ended his career working for Chemical Interchange. When not working, you could find Jack on the golf course, entertaining at his home, or traveling around the world. He enjoyed his nightly 'Kuhns' Manhattan with Mike, his dear friend. He was an original member of Niagara Frontier Country Club. He was active in the Lewiston Kiwanis. His philanthropy assisted many organizations which serve the underprivileged, nature conservation and the arts.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia (Connie) Bucknum Walmsley; his five brothers; and his parents.
A memorial service will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 400 Ridge Road, Lewiston on Saturday, September 9th at 3 PM with the Reverend Barbara Price officiating. There will be no prior visitation.
