John T. Pyda, 67, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at home. Born in Coburg, Bavaria on December 28, 1948, he was the son of the late Walter and Stephania (Gogola) Pyda.
He entered the United States Navy on May 23, 1979 and was honorably discharged on February 22, 1984 as a HT3. Receiving the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Humanitarian Service Medal for his service to his country. John also owned and operated Sammys Pizzeria on buffalo avenue in 1969.
He is survived by his children, Renee Pyda (Adam Sgro) and John J. Pyda, Jr.; grandchildren, Shain, Lexis, Gia and Lia; siblings, Ann (late Fred) Anderson, Steve Pyda and Stella(Charlie) Rimmer. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday, August 21st from 1-4 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th Street, cor., of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services with military honors will begin at 3:30 PM with Reverend Jacek Mazur officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to a Veteran's charity of one's choice.
