John S. Mac Donald, 'The Mac Donald' 85, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on April 8, 2017 in Punta Gorda, FL. Born in Chelsea, MA, he was the son of the late Stuart and Jean (Thompson) Mac Donald.
John graduated from high school in Syracuse, NY before attending Penn State University. In 1952, he joined the United States Air Force and came to Niagara Falls via transfer in 1953. On June 8, 1957, he married Vera (Morganti) Mac Donald in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1960, Mr. Mac Donald was employed as an operations officer for Marine Midland Bank/HSBC in Niagara Falls and Buffalo, and retired in 1990. He was an avid golfer, but most of all, will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, Mr. Mac Donald is survived by three children, Rose Downs (Joseph Sardina) of Ransomville, John Mac Donald of Mims, FL, and Thomas (Jennifer) Mac Donald of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Angela (Adam) Wylubski, Maurena (Daniel) Simone, Adriana Jean (Philip) Sampson, Joshua Mac Donald, Jack Mac Donald, Autumn Mac Donald; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mayanne (late Richard) Joyce of Honeybrook, PA.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors.
