Jeanne's Story

Jeanne (Holland) Ransom, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home, Schoellkopf Health Center. She was 94. She was born in Erie, PA on March 29, 1922, the daughter of the late Herman and Amelia (Williams) Holland. She attended schools and graduated in Pennsylvania, moving to Niagara Falls in 1964.
Mrs. Ransom was employed as a key punch operator for the Niagara Falls Board of Education and later for Chisholm Ryder, retiring in 1988. Following her retirement, she volunteered for HANCI as a home companion until 2010. She was a longtime member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, serving with its Altar Guild and was a member of the church choir.
As a young lady, she loved to play tennis and dance. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted family person, with a bright sense of humor and contagious smile.
Survivors include her two daughters, Cynthia 'Cindy' Ransom of Niagara Falls and Jean (Francis) DeMarco of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Megan (Philip) Gross, Jessica and Amanda Moore, Joseph (Kim) DeMarco, Dr. Emily (Dr. Michael) Polischuk, Elizabeth and Laura DeMarco; two great-granddaughters, Grace Jean and Adeline; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan (Paul) Moore; and siblings, Theodore, Harold, Carl and Mark Holland, Jacqueline Schimpf and Theodora Roper.
Friends may call on Friday after 3:30 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where a closing prayer will be held at 8 PM on Friday. Funeral services on Saturday at 11 AM in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls. Interment will be private in the columbarium at her church. In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or to Niagara Hospice, Inc., in her memory.
