James L. Fraser of Lewiston, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on August 24, 1934 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late James and Jane (Bowie) Fraser.
James was raised in Detroit and served in the United States Army. He was a salesman with Diversified Chemicals, for over 40 years, before retiring in 2010.
In 1979, James and his family moved to Niagara Falls. He became an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight in 1984, was Eucharistic minister, lector at St. Raphael's Church and was a member of Niagara Falls Country Club. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement with lots of rounds of golf, his daily crossword puzzles and cards with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna (Payne) Fraser. They were married on September 11, 1954. Two daughters, Lynne (Frederick) Gadawski of Niagara Falls, NY and Sharon (Michael) Bouchard of Matthews, NC; five grandchildren, Laura, Amy and Bryan Kashishian and Mary and Mark Bouchard, one great-granddaughter, Ella Kashishian. Also many nieces and nephews.
His family will be present on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael's RC Parish, 3831 Macklem Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating ,with military honors to follow.
The Knights of Columbus will be conducting a service on Tuesday at 7:00.
