Gregory E. McGahey Gregory E. McGahey, age 68, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away surrounded by his family on September 8, 2018 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, He was the son of the late William and Agnes (Edwards-Babi) McGahey; stepson of the late Stanley Babi.
He was the beloved husband of Linda ( Siegrist), who he married on October 25, 1996. Gregory served in the army, honorably discharged in 1970. He was a former Control Room Operator for Olin Chemical Niagara Falls , for 37 years until his retirement . He loved driving his corvette, snowmobiling, building remote control airplanes, going camping, most of all attending his granddaughters' softball games at Cayuga Gamblers Softball, where he was referred to as the "tan grandpa." Greg was an avid golfer, you could find him often at River Oak Golf Course where he was considered the "second member of the club."
In addition to his wife, Linda, Greg is survived by his son, Gregory G. McGahey; ,his step-daughter, Tammy (Marc) La Gamba; and step-son, Kenneth R. Cornell; granddaughters, Samantha and Vincenette La Gamba; his siblings, William D. McGahey , MaryJane (John) Smith, Becky (Norm) McGahey - Dudek, Dory Babi, Candy Richardson-Babi; predeceased by brother, Stan Babi (Sharon) and late sister, Bonita Babi; many nieces and nephews; survived also by aunt, Mae Desabrais (Edwards); sister-in-law, Dawn (Richard) Kupiec; and brother-in-law, Thomas (Mary) Siegrist; dear friend of Bill (late Betsy) Blumhagen, of Long Lake, NY,
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at The M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12th at 11:00 AM .
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Niagara Hospice or The Richard Syrews Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of River Oaks Golf Club, 201 Whitehaven Rd., Grand Island , NY 14004 in honor of Greg.
