Gordon F.'s Story
Gordon F. Martin, age 85, of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home on March 30, 2017 while at the Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on March 23, 1932, son of the late George and Ella (Ziehm) Martin.
Gordon was a United States Army veteran, and was employed as a milkman with the Sterling Amherst Dairy, worked at Hubman Burial Vault Company, and Niagara Monument Works, until his retirement. A lifelong member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where he formerly served as a Trustee and worked on the church cemetery. Member of the American Legion- Wheatfield Post 1451, the Jaycee's, Wheatfield Democratic Club, and a 63 year member of St. Johnsburg Fire Company.
Surviving are three children, Sherrill (James Gray) DeVantier, Tamara (James Bellina) Heim, and Gregory (Sherri) Martin; a brother, Dennis (Donna) Martin; five grandchildren, Timothy (Kim) DeVantier, Kelli DeVantier, Gregory, Jamie and Alyssa Martin; a great-grandson, Calvin DeVantier; a nephew, Kevin; and niece, Beth Ann.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, on Monday from 3-8 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Borgstede, on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road, in Wheatfield. Interment in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
