George T. ''Teeker'' Poulos, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 3, 1931 he was the son of the late Thomas G. and Christine (Vozikas) Poulos.
George entered the United States Airforce on May 1, 1952, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 23, 1956, as an Airmen 1st Class. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal-UN Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After serving his country George returned home and began working at the family business, the infamous Alps Restaurant. This is where "Teeker," as he was known at the family restaurant, started the Alps Hat Museum. The museum consisted of well over 1500 hats from around the world. Teeker was very proud of the collection of hats.
Besides being a staple at the family business, he was also a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church for many years.
He is survived by his sisters, Helen (late George) Churakos and Shula (Louis) Chistakos; and brother, Louis(Vera) Poulos. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Rose (Sam) Aguila.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 14th from 3-8 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor. of Welch Ave, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services with Military honors will begin at 7:30 PM with Rev. Kenneth DeVoit officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
