Genevieve 'Jean' Wolfgang, 74, returned to her heavenly home on April 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 16, 1943 in Niagara Falls to the late Joseph and Mary (DeSantis) Paonessa. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle with ALS and provided Jean with peace.
Jean dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and her career. She enjoyed reading and listening to her scriptures while swinging outside in her backyard. Above all else, being a mother and grandmother were the most important things to her.
In addition to her parents, Jean is predeceased by her brother, Joseph Paonessa. She is survived by three daughters, Shawn (Steve) Hess of Lewiston, NY, Tara (Markus) Williams of Town of Niagara, and Tammy (Frank) Novak of Niagara Falls; eight grandchildren, Markus, Nathan and Noah Williams, Taylor Golkin, Nicholas and Joshua Hess, and Ava and Maxwell Novak.
Jean donated her body to the University at Buffalo's Anatomical Gift Program. In keeping with her wishes, there was no visitation or funeral services. Private services were held. Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice or ALS Guardian Angels.
"When I can no longer speak, I will have a voice. When I can no longer walk, I will still keep up with you. When I can no longer breathe on my own, you will feel my whisper in your ear. I am here. I will not give up. Do not forget me."
