Gary A.'s Story

Gary A. Bush, 74 years old, passed away on April 29, 2017. He was born in Buffalo, NY, the son of Mary (LaVelle) Bush and the late Arthur Bush.
Gary was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of Bufffalo. He served with the United States Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964. He was awarded the honor of 'Outstanding Soldier' during his basic training in Germany in a Division of 1500 men. Gary was an accountant for many years; first with his own firm, Cousins and Bush, and later with Swiantek & Kling LLP.
He was a member and lector at the former Holy Trinity Church and was a member of their Holy Name Society. He was a current member and lector at St. John DeLaSalle Parish. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Grand Island, the Independent Accountants Association and a former member of the Echo Society, the Knights of Columbus, the Mt. St. Mary's Board of Associates and the Niagara Frontier Country Club where he enjoyed many years of playing golf. Gary's greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Gary is survived by his mother, Mary (LaVelle) Bush; his daughter, Lauren (Donald) Ode; his grandchildren, Jacob and Kendyl Ode; his brother, Stephen 'Tim' (Sandra) Bush; his sisters, Mary Colleen (Daniel) Kelly and Claire Bush. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne (Misch) Bush, who passed away on November 5, 2009; and his brother, Michael Bush.
Friends may call on Friday from 3 until 7 PM at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 356 Portage Road, where funeral services will begin at 9:15 AM on Saturday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John DeLaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, with Rev. Slawomir Siok officiating. Interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston.
In lieu of flowers, dontions may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Grand Island to support a scholarship fund in Gary's name.
