Our dear Mother, Ethel (Humphreys) Balon, passed away January 8, in Whistle Lane, a loving and caring community at Cabell Health Care in Culloden, W. Virginia. Ethel was born November 3,1921 in Welland, Ontario, during her parent's immigration to the United States from England.
The family settled in Niagara Falls, NY. She attended local schools and worked part-time in area restaurants and hotels. She was also employed by Carborundum Corp. and was a 30-year volunteer at N.F. Memorial Hospital.
Ethel was married to her compassionate and irreplaceable husband, John Balon, from 1946 until his passing in 1993.
She is survived by her son, Richard Caldwell of Niagara Falls; daughters, Pamela Balon of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, and Beth (Randy) Roberts of Las Vegas, Nevada; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial will be held at Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in May of this year.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Cabell Health Care for their tender and patience care of our Mom during her last years.
