Edward J. Johnson, 89, of Sanborn, formerly of Niagara Falls and Port Orange, Florida, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at home, under the care of Niagara Hospice.
Born on Christmas Eve, 1927, he was the son of Herbert and Agnes (McVey) Johnson. He attended local schools including the former St. Mary's High School and served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Second World War.
He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 237, working as an electrician for over 42 years. He retired January 1, 1990.
He and his wife, Elsie enjoyed being snowbirds in Florida, enjoyed a round a golf and watching his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events. He was a member of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie (Young) Johnson in 2014.
He is survived by children, Judy (Gary) Heppner, Rita (George) Ball, Edward (Jane) Johnson, Raymond (Kathryn) Johnson, William (Susanne) Johnson, Mark (Diane) Johnson, Paul (Terri) Johnson, James (Denise) Johnson; 24 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, William, Richard, Charles and Marylou Johnson.
Family will be present on Friday, December 8th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 9th at 11 AM in Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Townline Road, Ransomville, NY 14131. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. The Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, Buffalo VA Palliative Care or Niagara Hospice.
