Dr. Samuel C. Morreale

1934 - 2019

Dr. Samuel C. Morreale Dr. Samuel C. Morreale, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on January 9, 2019, after a brief illness, at Roswell Park. Born on December 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Angelo and Josephine (Licata) Morreale; and beloved husband of Lydia (Dalla Torre) Morreale, whom he married on June 3, 1967, at the former Sacred Heart Church.
Dr. Morreale was a graduate of Niagara University and the University of Buffalo Dental School. He is the holder of the Alpha Omega award for excellence in scholarship for attaining the highest scholastic standing for four years of dental study. He was the recipient of the Barrett Foundation prize, an award given annually to the member of the graduating class whose total average for the entire coursework was the highest. The American Society of Dentistry also presented him with an award for excellence in children's dentistry. In addition, he was elected to membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national honorary dental fraternity.
Dr. Morreale served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a captain for two years. He then opened his dental practice in 1962 on Niagara Street, where he enjoyed serving the community for 55 years until his retirement in 2014 from Dental Care Associates, at the age of 80.
Dr. Morreale was a talented musician and enjoyed playing saxophone and clarinet. He was a member of the Niagara Falls Musicians Hall of Fame and Lewiston Jazz Festival committee. He was incredibly generous, and his generosity went beyond material things. He was a devout Catholic and longtime, active parishioner at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, and was also involved with Catholic Charities for many years.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing the game of golf, especially with a group of guys he spent so much time with. Together they traveled all over and created numerous memorable stories.
In addition to his lovely wife, Lydia Morreale, of 51 years, he is also survived by his son, David Morreale and daughter, Janene (Paul) Sullivan; two granddaughters, Samantha and Sabrina, whom he adored. In addition, he is also survived by his brother, George (Margaret) Morreale and two sisters, Vera (late Arthur) Fabiano and Jennie (Frank) Borgese. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph (Rose) Morreale and two sisters, Rose (late Cezar) Sarkees and Mary Morreale.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 13th from 3-7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. I was one of His first patients in 1963. I was 11 lyears old and lived on 300 block of Ninth St , just a short walk to his office . His sister Mary would greet me with a huge smile ,She passed so young as did Rose . The Doctor and I remained friends over time giving him stock market tips and those corny jokes.

I lived over seas for 24 years but every year I looked forward to my annual visits and occasionally lunch .he was in all respects a progressive and humble Dentist doing everything dental related in his lab .many a time he opened on Saturday to do one thing or another for me. My Mom OBM was also found of him , a loyal patient until she passed in 2008.

I remained a patient of the fir
...m he cofounder til last year. Living in Florida for previous 9 years. Also last I heard from him in December so I was shocked to hear of his passing in January ... May our good memories of Sam OBM , be a source of strength to Lydia , the girls , to George who a got to meet at the Parkway . Those memories will serve as a blessing to Doc Sam .Read more
