With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Donna Mae Lackos on May 11th, 2016, under the care of her family, assisted by Hospice of Georgia. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the youngest daughter of Johanna and Harry Lackos (late). She graduated from LaSalle High in 1961.
Donna was unique and possessed numerous talents. She worked as office manager for Dr. Steven Grabiec for ten years before relocating to South Carolina where she was employed at Publix grocers for twelve years, managing the floral department where her eye for beauty shined. Donna loved antiquing, auctions, the casinos, politics, and in younger years her art was unequaled. She looked forward to visiting Niagara often to be with family and friends. Donna was an outstanding mother, grandmother and sister. She leaves Daughter Lisa (Michael) Miller of Georgia, son Andrew Emanuele of South Carolina, grandchildren Andrew, Nick and Christina, sister Dee Lackos Schmidt and Diane (late John) Martino of Niagara; dear nieces, nephews, and faithful friends, including her 60 year friendship with Mary Lou Pinkalski of Cheektowaga. Donna didn't win her year long battle with cancer but was valiant in her efforts until the very end.
Services will be Monday, June 13th at St. Joseph's Cemetery's Resurrection chapel. Visitation 11:30-1:00PM with a prayer service to follow.
In recognition of the exceptional care and support of Hospice, donations may be made in her name at Wellstar Community Hospice at 440 Hospital West Drive, Austell, GA 30106.
