Derrick Jessie, 53 of Buffalo, New York, passed away on October 6, 2017 at home. Born in Union Spring, Alabama on November 15, 1964 to Thomas Calhoun of Union Springs, Alabama and Tommie (Jessie) Moore of Niagara Falls, NY.
Derrick graduated from American Institute of Banking and received his Masters degree in Political Science from Syracuse University. He served in the United States Army. He was formerly employed with M&T Bank where he worked with stocks and bonds and after eight years of employment he worked for King Konge Construction. Derrick enjoyed reading, viewing art, exercising and sports. He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. He met no strangers and was loved by many.
He leaves in cherishing memory a son, Derrick McCory (Avery) of Amherst, NY; siblings, Patrick (Barbara) Jessie of Town of Niagara, NY, Marlon Moore (Theresa) of Niagara Falls, NY; Thomas Wayne Foster, Katrina Calhoun, Jimmy Brown, Sherry Calhoun, Marcus (LaShon) Foster of Union Springs, Alabama; stepmother, Alma Calhoun of Union Springs, Alabama; two stepsisters, Valisha (Davon) Moore-Bailey of Rochester, NY, and Christina Moore of Brooklyn, NY; one granddaughter, Dottie McCory; special friends, Victor and Vincent Bullock; a host of aunts, nieces, and nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Aberdeen and Tommie Jessie, Mose and Jeffanna Calhoun; stepfather, Willie O. Moore 'Punkin'; lifelong friend, Eugene Frazier; seven aunts and four uncles.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 14th at 11 AM at Trinity Baptist Church, 1366 South Avenue Niagara Falls, NY where a funeral service will follow at 12 Noon. Arrangements by WILLIAMSON FUNERAL HOME, 635 Main Street.
