Danny E. Maines, 68, of Appleton, NY, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on July 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Gilbert Maines and Helen (Domagalski) Maines and attending local schools.
He entered the United States Army on June 22, 1966 serving during the Vietnam War as a heavy vehicle operator. He was honorably discharged on June 20, 1969 as a PVT E-1. For his service to his country, he received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/device (1960), Expert (Rifle). After serving his country, Danny was a mill wright at Delphi/Harrison. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go fishing and hunting. He was also a car enthusiast, who loved his cars just as much as being outdoors.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his ex-wife/companion, Carol Maines; children, Michael Maines, Danny (Jessica) Maines, Laina Maines, Kristine (Matt) Seltzer and Lori (Mike) Tolli; five grandchildren; sisters, Margaret 'Peggy' (Ed) Lester, Rose (Mike) Lorenti, Penny (Kenny) Robinson and Shirley (Al) Fiocco; aunt, Alice Allotta; and also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dutch Maines and Gilbert Maines, Jr.
Per Danny's wishes, there is no prior visitation. Funeral services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC.
