Daniel J. Kelly, 81 years old, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was born in Niagara Falls on March 12, 1936, the son of the late John and Stella (Stanek) Kelly.
Dan was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School. On August 2, 1958 he married the former Margaret "Peggy" Conway. He and Peg were the owners of Kelly's Corner on Buffalo Avenue for 17 years. Dan was employed as a chemical operator at Occidental Petroleum and retired in 1996. He was a member of the Elks Club serving as their Trustee for 15 years and delivered Meals on Wheels for 8 years. Dan had a longstanding hobby of raising tropical fish that has lasted for over 60 years. He and Peggy also enjoyed traveling together.
Dan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Conway) Kelly and his 5 daughters; Vicki (Ron) Janese, Lisa (Dave) Tighe, Lori (Tom) Galbo, Tracy (Warren) Gilmore and Kristi (Brian) Short. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren; Daniel (Melissa) Tighe, Ryan Tighe, Ronald (Sarah) Janese, Taylor Wilson, Patrick Tighe, David (Cori) Tighe, Brandon (Jacqueline) Janese, Thomas Galbo, Connor Gilmore, Dylan Galbo, Jordan Short, McKenzie Gilmore and Paige Short as well as 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by all of his daughters friends who Dan embraced as part of his own family.
Friends may call on Saturday and Sunday from 3 until 7 pm at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 356 Portage Road. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday at 10 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 736 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, with Rev. Benjamin Bahr officiating.
