Carol (Furlong) Pagano, 84, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Our Lady of Peace. She was born in this city on December 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Vincent and Helen (Butler) Furlong.
She attended area schools, receiving her Master's Degree in Education from Buffalo State College. Mrs. Pagano taught in the city school district for several years, before having her children. After her two boys were in school, she went back to work for the city as a special education teacher, retiring in 1995.
A lifetime member of St. John de LaSalle RC Church, she also was a member of its Rosary Alter Society, serving as President, a Lector, a member of the Martha's and the St. Francis Guild, volunteering at the gift shop at St. Mary's Hospital. Along with her husband, James, they were awarded the St. Joseph the Worker Award. She was also a member the Niagara Woman's Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. When time permitted, she enjoyed playing Bocce.
She was predeceased by her husband, James in January of 2017. She is survived by sons, Anthony (Cheryl) Pagano and James (Laurie) Pagano; siblings, Janet and Mary Furlong; grandchildren, Brenden, Nathan and Lucia.
She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Kellie Pagano in 2007 and a brother, Vincent Furlong.
Friends may call on Friday, from 3-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, NF. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in St. John de LaSalle RC Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, NF. PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. The interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the church.
