Carl Patrick Frain, Jr., of Akron, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was 69. He was born in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada on October 9, 1948, the son of the late Carl Patrick Frain, Sr. and Virginia (Falcone) Frain.
He moved to Niagara Falls as a child, attending area schools.
Carl had a long career as a welder for Harrison Radiator and was a member of the UAW 686. He retired from his full-time employment in 1999. A man that liked to keep busy, he took a part time job with the Akron Ruler Company and as a bartender for the Akron American Legion, where he belonged to the Sons of the American Legion.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his son built a hunting cabin in the southern tier, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Carl was an avid Civil War history buff, enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, playing pool, following hockey and football. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Brett, Curtis and Logan Frain and Carissa Wurl.
He is survived by two children, Carl P. (Bobbi Jo) Frain, III of Rochester and Toni Lyn Frain (Kevin Wurl) of Winchester, MA; siblings, Barry (Ellen) Frain of Niagara Falls; Michelle (Albert) Parker of Lewiston and Mark Frain of Niagara Falls; his former wife, Deborah Butts ; his grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Douglas Matthews and Lori Best.
Family will be present Saturday after 2 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where Memorial services will be held at 3 PM. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
