Bernice Catherine Wilkinson


Bernice Catherine (Ashe) Wilkinson, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 in Schoelkopf Health Care Center. She was 86. Born in Madoc, Ontario, Canada on March 5, 1933, the daughter of William and Irene (Reynolds) Ashe. Attending schools in Canada, she moved to Niagara Falls in 1953 and became an American Citizen in 1960.
A member of the Salvation Army, she was a member of its League of Mercy and volunteered each year at Christmas as a bell ringer. She was a Lifetime member of the Rushford Conservation Club and TOPS Club Over 55 Club. A very active lady, she enjoyed reading, camping, listening to Blue Grass music; traveling in the US and abroad.
She worked for the former Grants and Twin Fair at the lunch counter.
Predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Wilkinson in 1978 and her son, Douglas Wilkinson in 1991 and her longtime companion, Carl Sandlin. She is survived by two children, Robert (Laurie) Wilkinson and Sheila (Carl) Quinlan; daughter in law, Suzanne; sister, Berdina Keller; brother in law, Francis Quinlan; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by siblings, Yonne Quinlan; William; Bruce; Bob and Bernard Ashe and Jewell Asselstine.
Family present Monday after 1 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where services will follow the visitation at 4 PM. The interment will private in Memorial Park Cemetery.
