Benjamin's Story

Ben completed his life (1941-2017) on March 15, 2017. He was born on December 17, 1941 to parents Benajmin and Frances (Wnuk) Kudela in Niagara Falls. He was a loving brother to seven siblings. Predeceased by sister, Vicki (Ralph) Grizanti; sister, Kathy Kudela and brother, Christopher (Joan) Kudela. Survived by brothers, Robert, Walter (Kathie), Richard (Jean); and sister, Bonnie (Dr. Clayburn) Booth.
Ben graduated from LaSalle Senior High School, Class of 1959. He enlisted for Naval service in 1967 and served duty in Guatanamo Bay, Cuba. He joined the Niagara Falls Fire Department in 1973 and retired at the rank of Captain in 2003, serving a full thirty years of active duty. Ben enjoyed the Niagara River and operated many boats over the years. He both enjoyed and was frustrated by the game of golf as well as being a Buffalo sports fan. He looked forward to spending time with family and friends and had many circles of good friends. Ben was very handy at many things, truly a jack of all trades and never tired of helping family and friends with any project.
Ben is survived by Pamela (William) Fekete and David Kudela. He is loved and dearly missed by his grandchildren; Cody Kudela, Chelsea and Courtney Gunderson and Corey Fekete; and additionally many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at LANE FUNERAL HOME, Niagara Falls, 4-8 PM on Friday, March 17, 2017. Visitation/Memorial Service at 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Lane's. Reception at Polish Nook following the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, please bring a photo to share. Donations in honor of Ben may be donated to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or a charity of one's choice.
