Cherished Brother and Uncle
Antonio 'Tony' Sabatini, 81, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Schoellkopf Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 2, 1936 in Pietracarmela Province Termo, Italy, the son of the late Attilio and Maria Luisa (Narducci) Sabitini.
Tony came to Niagara Falls at the age of 12 in 1949 and was granted his citizenship in 1955. He was employed by Occidental Chemical Company in Niagara Falls, retiring in 1994 after 35 years of service. Tony was an active parishioner of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, where he served as an usher, Catholic Charities Volunteer and member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the St. Joseph Church site. He also was a member of the First Friday Club of Niagara Falls and the Retiree's Club of Oxy Chemical. Tony was a 50-year member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society and received the "Distinguished Service Award" in 1986. Tony enjoyed good food, music, sports movies, walking, reading and gardening. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his two sisters, Nilla (late Rodolfo) Franchi of Niagara Falls and Maria (late Joseph) Tricinci of Toronto, ON; nephews, Danny (Diane) Sabatini and Larry (Angelica) Sabatini, both of Toronto; nieces, Sandra (Sal) Pascucci and Debra Franchi, both of Niagara Falls, NY, Nancy (Tim) Harvey of Gasport, NY; and several cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Tony was predeceased by his brother, the late Joseph (late Josephine) Sabatini.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, where prayers will be said Friday at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated from Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, memorials may be made in Tony's memory to Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish Food Pantry.
