Antoinette Iacovitti, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Antoinette (D'Aurizio) Iacovitti was the beloved wife of the late Albert Iacovitti. Born in Niagara Falls, Antoinette was the daughter of the late Luigi and Concetta (Dalimonte) D'Aurizio.
Antoinette is survived by her children, Alberta 'Birdie' (late Richard) Jones and August (Patricia) Iacovitti; her grandchildren, Dava (Eric) Bielefeld, Mara (Andrew) Berretta and Albert Iacovitti; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one sister, Evelyn (Joseph) Del Rosso. Antoinette was predeceased by three siblings, Americo 'Um' D'Aurizio, Amedeo 'Dugan' (Helen) D'Aurizio; and infant brother, Antonio D'Aurizio.
Antoinette was dearly loved by her family and likewise devoted herself to them. Antoinette married her beloved husband, Albert Iacovitti, on Septemeber 8, 1945 at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Together, they made a life founded on faith and centered on love and caring for each other, family and friends. Antoinette was busy both at home and at work. She owned and operated Antoinette's Beauty Salon in Niagara Falls for 70 years, first opening the shop at just age 16. The salon was a place where hairdos were created, friendships grew, and lives were shared.
At home, Antoinette enjoyed cooking and baking. She took special joy in maintaining D'Aurizio family traditions in the kitchen. She spoiled her family with her skills and generosity. Antoinette also excelled at crocheting. She crocheted countless afghan blankets as gifts. Many times, her baked goods were enjoyed while snuggling beneath one of these handmade creations.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Antoinette's life at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301 on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM. There will be no prior visitation. Private interment will be held by the family. Antoinette will be deeply missed, but her loved ones feel truly blessed to have had her in their lives, and will always cherish her memory. Donations in memory of Antoinette (D'Aurizio) Iacovitti may be made to O.L.P. Nursing Residence, Lewiston, NY. Antoinette and her family are grateful for the assistance they provided her.
