Allen Edwin's Story
Allen Edwin Edwards of Lockport, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls entered into rest on Monday, March 20, 2017. Allen was born in his beloved Tonawanda 'God's Country' on December 21, 1922, the son of the late George and Emma (Thursam) Edwards.
Allen served on 463rd Squadron in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, flying over 80 missions as a navigator. He retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. After the war, he had a long career as a mechanical engineer at the Carborundum Company. His passion was inventing. He was always tinkering with new ideas. He was a member of the Eldridge Bicycle Club.
Allen is survived by his wife, Mabel (Foley) Edwards; his children, Elizabeth (Edwards) Grant (Dr. Ken), of Irvine, CA, Laurie (Edwards) Ryan, of Niagara Falls, NY. Devoted step-father of Nancy (Jack) McHugh, Rick (Pat) Burrows and the late John Burrows. Beloved grandfather of Kenneth, Jr. and Alexander S. Grant. Step-grandfather of John, Amanda, Justin, Brian, Trisha, John, John Rode and Angie. Devoted brother of the late George and Raymond Edwards. Beloved uncle of Kathy, Dickie, Gail and the late Marsha. Brother-in-law of Jim Foley, Mac Foley, Monnie Grant, Ruby Napier, Truia Sawyer, Violet Volschow, Glenda Taylor and the late Joe Foley, Lorene Wells, Goldie Wells, Jackie Wilkesmore and Vivian Taylor.
Family and friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main Street, Newfane, NY on Friday, March 31, 2017 form 4-6 PM, where a Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM.
