Alice Louise Whitebread, age 100, entered into rest on December 8, 2017, at Elderwood at Wheatfield, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in the Township of Luzerne, Pennsylvania on January 20, 1917, daughter of John and Laura (Jones) Rinehemer.
Alice was employed at the Wurlitzer Organ Company, North Tonawanda, and McLeod's Drug Store, in Niagara Falls, for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, working in the kitchen, helped with Sunday School, and played the piano. Alice enjoyed quilting, sewing and making crafts. After her retirement, she lived many years in Bushnell, Florida. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Olin Whitebread.
Survivors include two daughters, Lyndal (Albert) Greer of Marietta, PA, and Joyce (Robert) McArdle of Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren, Lori (Dennis) Alessandrini of Welland, Ontario, Thomas (Rachel) McArdle Sr. of Niagara Falls, John (Tammi) Greer, Allyn (Joanne) Greer, and Karyn (Robert) Weiland all of PA; seven great-grandchildren (one predeceased), and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, at 1 PM in the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Family will greet friends from noon until 1 PM preceding the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
