Alfred T. Osypian, lifetime area resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2017 after a brief illness. He was 87. He was born in Niagara Falls on March 4, 1930, a son of the late Ferdynand and Ludwika (Depa) Osipianc. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School on Pine Avenue.
Mr. Osypian served for 2 years in the United States Marine Corps in combat in Korea receiving 7 Military Ribbons and Medals and Three Battle Stars. Upon his discharge from the Marines he served in the Marines Ready Reserve for 2 years and as a Corporal in the Army National Guard for three years. He worked as a millwright at General Motors in Tonawanda until his retirement in 2000.
He is survived by 6 children: Linda (Bob) Moudy, Cheryl (Ken) Petroci, David (Terri) Osypian, Marc (Marie) Osypian, Robert (Becki) Osypian and Becky (Mark) Aguzzi. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley A. (Preuster) Osypian (2013), two siblings: Sophia (late Chester) Jaworski of Blasdell and Thomas Osypian and half-brother Stanley (late Nancy) Kinaszewic.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls on Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. with a memorial service being held at 7:45 P.M. If desired, donations may be made in Mr. Osypians name to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
