Alfred McRobert's Story
Alfred McRobert Coutts passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Al was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on August 13, 1926 to James and Sophia (Walker) Coutts.
Al attended school in Niagara Falls and worked several years for Nabisco with time out for military service. In the early 1950's he went to work for Moore Business Forms - Highland Avenue until the company closed it plant there. He retired in 1988 from the Lewiston Porter School District.
In 1950 he married Mary Alice McClure and they set out on a wonderful journey that spanned 68 years
together. During those years they raised a great family of four children and enjoyed some travel. Most dear to his heart was being at home and in the familiar places around Lewiston and Youngstown, along the Niagara River.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Deborah; sons, Kenneth (Barbara), Nathan (Emma); several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and brother, Bruce (Sandy). He was predeceased by a son, Alfred; a sister, Shirley; and brothers, James, Duncan, Donald, Kenneth and Neil.
The family is most grateful for the kind and compassionate care given to Al in his final days by the Niagara Hospice. At his request, his body was given to the University of Buffalo Medical School in the Anatomical Gift Program.
There will be no service at this time but plans are being made for a gathering of family and friends in the summertime.
