Agnes F. (Weisbeck) O'Keefe, age 93, passed away on February 15, 2018 after a short illness. Agnes was the loving mother of five good boys, Jim O'Keefe (Joan), Thomas O'Keefe, Richard O'Keefe (Diane), Denis O'Keefe (Susan), and John O'Keefe. Agnes was predeceased by her husband James, Sr. in 2008.
She is survived by two brothers, James Weisbeck of East Bloomfield, NY, and David Weisbeck of Cody, WY. She was Aunt Agnes to scores of Weisbeck and O'Keefe offspring.
Born in Alden, NY, she met her husband James after World War II. She earned her Registered Nurse degree from Canisius College where she was an honor student. She retired from Mount St. Mary's Hospital after 20 years as an RN for coronary and intensive care units. She was a volunteer at several nursing homes as well as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul Parish. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary.
Agnes and Jim had 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, which were her pride and joy. She knitted afghans for each of them. She was the baby-holder-in-chief and matriarch at the annual Weisbeck family reunions, where her famous caramel rolls were in high demand.
The family is grateful to Niagara Hospice's Jeanne's House for their wonderful care. Agnes continues to give as she donated her body for the training of medical students at the University of Buffalo. There will be no viewing, and a memorial service will be planned for a future spring date. Donations to Niagara Hospice or St. Vincent DePaul Parish gratefully accepted.
